رِبَا
ribā

وَأَحَلَّ اللَّهُ الْبَيْعَ وَحَرَّمَ الرِّبَا
wa-aḥalla Allāhu al-bayʿa wa-ḥarrama ar-ribā
Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest (2:275)
نِكَاحٌ
nikāḥ
marriage / marriage contract

وَأَنْكِحُوا الْأَيَامَى مِنْكُمْ وَالصَّالِحِينَ مِنْ عِبَادِكُمْ
wa-ankiḥū al-ayāmā minkum waṣ-ṣāliḥīna min ʿibādikum
And marry the unmarried among you and the righteous among your servants (24:32)
طَلَاقٌ

divorce

الطَّلَاقُ مَرَّتَانِ فَإِمْسَاكٌ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ تَسْرِيحٌ بِإِحْسَانٍ
aṭ-ṭalāqu marratāni fa-imsākun bi-maʿrūfin aw tasrīḥun bi-iḥsān
Divorce is twice. Then either retention with good treatment or release with kindness (2:229)
وَصِيَّةٌ
waṣiyyah

كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ إِنْ تَرَكَ خَيْرًا الْوَصِيَّةُ
kutiba ʿalaykum idhā ḥaḍara aḥadakumu al-mawtu in taraka khayran al-waṣiyyah
Prescribed for you when death approaches any of you, if he leaves wealth, is that he should make a bequest (2:180)
فِقْهٌ

لِيَتَفَقَّهُوا فِي الدِّينِ وَلِيُنْذِرُوا قَوْمَهُمْ إِذَا رَجَعُوا إِلَيْهِمْ
liyatafaqqahū fī ad-dīni wa-liyundhirū qawmahum idhā rajaʿū ilayhim
To obtain understanding in the religion and warn their people when they return to them (9:122)

لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ
laqad kāna lakum fī rasūli Allāhi uswatun ḥasanah
There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example (33:21)
شُورَى
shūrā
consultation / mutual counsel

وَأَمْرُهُمْ شُورَى بَيْنَهُمْ
wa-amruhum shūrā baynahum
And their affair is determined by consultation among themselves (42:38)

جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ

Gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow (9:72)
فِرْدَوْسٌ
firdaws
Paradise (highest level) / garden of Paradise

أُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْوَارِثُونَ الَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ الْفِرْدَوْسَ
ulāʾika humu al-wārithūna alladhīna yarithūna al-firdaws
Those are the inheritors who will inherit al-Firdaus (23:10-11)
سِرَاجٌ

wa-jaʿala fīhā sirājan wa-qamaran munīrā
And placed therein a lamp (the sun) and a luminous moon (25:61)

offspring / descendants / progeny

رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ
rabbanā hab lanā min azwājinā wa-dhurriyyātinā qurrata aʿyun
Our Lord, grant us from our spouses and offspring comfort to our eyes (25:74)
عَقْلٌ
ʿaql
reason / intellect / understanding

أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
afalā taʿqilūn
Will you not then use reason? (2:44)
